In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Per Lindgren, CTO and Co-Founder, Net Insight on the company's plans and showcases for this year's event.
Tara: What do you think MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?
Per: We believe MWC 2022 will debate openness and virtualization in 5G rollouts with some early 6G discussions. GPS/GNSS independence has become a critical factor for many countries due to the increasing amount of mission-critical applications to be used over 5G infrastructure. Net Insight will attend and exhibit at MWC 2022 together with Turk Telekom where we will showcase and demonstrate our collaboration and 5G synchronization solution to be used in the Turk Telekom rollout.
Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?
Per: Overall, during 2020 and first half of 2021 we saw delays in projects, but now business is strong. The global component shortage has impacted several industries and may continue to do so during 2022. There is also an increasing trend towards remote and cloud-based workflows, where people are looking at doing operations from any place over any network.
Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?
Per: The trend towards cloud and virtualization is continuing and there will be an increasing focus on openness in 5G rollouts driven by the Telecom Infra Project and OpenRAN forums. The movement towards greater flexibility, avoiding vendor lock-in and enabling access to optimized products and more inexpensive solutions involves disaggregation of key network functions such as network synchronization. Mission-critical applications over 5G is becoming increasingly important and reliability and security aspects will be high on the agenda.
