The Alcatel-Lucent 5780 Dynamic Services Control (DSC) is a platform based on Agile Rules Technology (A.R.T.) that allows service providers to deploy services quickly and easily with high performance, scalability, flexibility, and maintainability. The Alcatel-Lucent Agile Rules Technology (A.R.T.) was designed to combine the benefits of general-purpose and hard-coded rules engines, without any of their drawbacks. A.R.T. specifically models the call flow and data requirements of a fundamental set of use cases that represent key business models. Examples of these requirements are usage management, application control and intelligent traffic management. Read More
With its Policy Control Module, the 5780 DSC provides the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) for 3G/4G wireless networks and for wireline access. With this module, service providers can deliver innovative and personalized services to monetize their networks in compliance with the 3GPP Policy Control and Charging (PCC) architecture. This module extends policy control into fixed access by offering a RADIUS interface to the Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) and the Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS). Read More
To help service providers better manage the rapid increase in control plane traffic, the 5780 DSC offers the Diameter Control Point, which comprises a complete suite of Diameter routing capabilities. The Diameter Control Point (DCP) supports the following Diameter interfaces: Gx, Rx, S9, S6a, S6d, Cx, Dx, Sh and Gy, and it extends support for any additional Diameter interface based on a configurable descriptor file added to the system. For better visibility and control of Wi-Fi access, the 5780 DSC offers the Wi-Fi Control Module based on the 3GPP Release 11 ANDSF specification. With these capabilities, service providers can intelligently make decisions about which Wi-Fi access options are best suited to a subscriber at a specific location and which applications to be steered over Wi-Fi vs. Cellular, based on criteria such as service entitlements, Time of Day (ToD), application, network utilization, etc.. As a result, the service provider can establish policies that execute seamless, secure and uninterrupted handover between 3G/4G and Wi-Fi. Read More
To enable the service provider to create contextual, segmented, and personalized data offers while supporting user controls to simplify the mobile data experience, the 5780 DSC offers the Smart Plan Builder as part of the Smart Plan Solution.Smart Plan Builder creates personalized services and contextual offers, and processes them easily in real-time with broad flexibility and scalable performance. To act as a cross-network hub, Smart Plan Builder connects to the related network elements for the defined use cases through a unique plugin framework. What’s more, Smart Plan Builder offers RESTful APIs to interact with Smart Plan mobile apps that can be customized to the specific business goals of the service provider. Read More
