Qosmos, a leading provider in embedded Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network intelligence technology for use in physical, virtualized and in Software Defined Networking (SDN) architectures, is partnering with Cavium to showcase a demonstration of intelligent service chaining running on Cavium’s LiquidIO adapter at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The demo will showcase real-time intelligence that is provided by a Qosmos-based service classifier, supported by high performance enabled by the Cavium LiquidIO adapter, which accelerates network throughput by offloading vSwitch processing from the x86 host.
According to Qosmos, the new approach brings significant advantages for data center operators interested in dynamic, intelligent service chaining and optimized network infrastructure. They can programmatically create any type of service combination quickly and easily in a modern virtualized environment, while benefiting from extreme network performance.
This is the first time anyone has integrated service classification directly onto a Cavium LiquidIO adapter. We see a strong interest for this approach, particularly from datacenter operators running virtual cyber security and routing functions.

Qosmos Layer 7 classification technology is impressive and is now supported on both our Cavium OCTEON processors and our LiquidIO adapters, and soon will be supported on our ThunderX platforms. Adding Cavium’s processing power creates a strong platform for service chaining, which datacenters can leverage to optimize network services and performance.
