Smith Micro Software, a leading provider of wireless and mobility solutions, has successfully completed the interoperability tests between the Amdocs Smart Net intelligent offload solution and the Smith Micro NetWise® traffic management client. Amdocs used Smith Micro’s NetWise I/O toolkit to validate ANDSF interoperability that would enable seamless Wi-Fi offload and traffic optimization over heterogeneous networks.

According to Smith Micro, the NetWise I/O test environment is the industry’s first formal certification tool for testing compliance to the Access Network Discovery and Selection Function (ANDSF) standard. NetWise I/O ensures that network policies sent by an ANDSF server are being received and interpreted correctly by the ANDSF client residing on the device. Further, NetWise I/O provides valuable information about the execution of ANDSF operations on devices, including response times, hand-over experience, connection establishment and teardown times, and policy conflict resolution. NetWise I/O helps to accelerate commercial deployment of ANDSF-based management solutions intended to improve user experience and balance network traffic through the seamless handoff of data between 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks.

“The Amdocs Smart Net Solution makes intelligent policy-driven offload decisions, based on a customer's service profile, value, and location, to maximize revenues, alleviate congestion and ensure a best connected experience,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Amdocs. “Validating interoperability between Smith Micro’s toolkit and the Amdocs Smart Net Access Controller server, gives our customers the assurance of standards-based compliance, backed by industry-leading mobile device lifecycle management.”
