The Network Intelligence Alliance (NI Alliance), Tuesday announced the launch of the Intelligent Open Networking (IOPN) Awards to reward service providers, systems integrators and technology vendors providing solutions that combine open networking with intelligence. The NI Alliance which is an industry organization that aims to promote collaboration among vendors of products or solutions based on network intelligence, boasts close to 40 leading vendors including Broadcom, Guavus, Qosmos, Vedicis and Radisys.

The award aims to highlight the added value provided by intelligence on various verticals - traffic, subscriber, security and business. With the industry's shift towards virtualization and with the increasing adoption of open source software such as Linux and OpenStack, recognition of solutions that feature intelligence and open networking will provide a timely boost for players in the telecom space offering or deploying these capabilities.

Nominations for the award is now open and winners will be recognized in 3 categories - 'Best innovation combining intelligence with open networking', 'Best Proof of Concept (PoC) combining intelligence with open networking'; and 'Best service or solution combining intelligence with open networking'. Announcement of winners will take place during the IOPN Awards Evening on Tuesday, 23rd February during the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona.
