China Unicom Expands IMS Network for Mobile and FMC with ZTE Solution

China Unicom has chosen ZTE Corporation’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution to expand it's existing IMS mobile network footprint to the northern region and to move towards a fully Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) architecture by consolidating it’s current fixed network into the new network. The expansion to the northern region covers 10 northern China provinces and cities including Beijing,  Tianjin,  Shandong,  Heilongjiang, JilinLiaoningHebei and Henan. The IMS deployment enables China Unicom to offer suite of new and innovative applications such as VoLTE and RCS(Rich Communication Suite) in the near future. ZTE was selected after rigorous verification and testing including lab test, Pilot Project in Shandong where ZTE made the first IMS call for China Unicom and completion of Inter-Operating Test (IOT) to all other IMS vendors.
