Opera Software, Wednesday announced a partnership with Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi to integrate its data-savings capability to Xiaomi’s new Operating System(OS), MIUI 7 that has just been launched. Opera claims that its compression technology can compress mobile data usage in browsers and other apps by as much as 50 percent.
The release will also include the latest Opera Max innovations, enabling compression and optimization of streaming video and audio, including popular services such as YouTube, Instagram, Line, Lazada, among others, said Opera Software.
According to Opera, its Opera Max technology has been successfully powering the MIUI Data Saver feature for millions of Xiaomi users in China for more than a year. The service which is enabled on Xiaomi devices as soon as users turn on the MIUI Data Saver feature works across any app on the device.
