LevelUp, a leading mobile wallet and loyalty platform, has recently added carrier-integrated mobile commerce solutions firm Danal's Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) service to its payment options. In partnership with Sprint, LevelUp and Danal are offering an entirely new, completely mobile way for customers to make in-store purchases via carrier billing.
According to LevelUp, with the partnership, customers can link their mobile bill to LevelUp, head to any of the 14,000 merchants in the LevelUp ecosystem, and pay for their purchase. Danal is touted as the first to launch direct mobile operator billing connections with all four Top Tier US Carriers in 2010 and 2011, and as the first in the US to expand carrier billing from just digital payment facilitation to providing an avenue for consumers to purchase any type of goods and services in retail locations.
Seth Priebatsch, CEO at LevelUp
With a modern payment infrastructure, there's no reason to be restricted to just the old-world of plastic payment methods. So today we're excited to go one step further.
Paris Leung, GM Mobile Commerce and VP of Strategy at Danal
We're really excited about this because it offers consumers more choice. More choice is better for everyone -- the consumers and the merchants.
