Vodafone Hutchison Australia has deployed Amdocs Self-Optimizing Networks (SON) solution with the objective of helping to improve its 4G coverage and customer experience across Australia. Amdocs solution is expected to help with the freeing up of 4G spectrum and in managing peak traffic congestion.
According to Amdocs, the solution helps Vodafone to free up 850 MHz spectrum previously used for 3G, so that it can be used for LTE. Amdocs noted that the 850 MHz spectrum is the most widely supported low-band spectrum currently accessible on 4G smartphones and tablets, and provides a superior customer experience with fewer dropped data sessions. Amdocs said that its SON solution's algorithms have been customized to meet Vodafone Hutchison Australia's network spectrum and traffic steering goals.
Benoit Hanssen, CTO, Vodafone Hutchison Australia
The Self-Optimizing Network technology is playing an important role in the deployment of our low-band 850 MHz 4G network and it allows us to differentiate our network experience across our 3G and 4G networks, in particular where we see dynamic traffic behavior.
Rebecca Prudhomme, VP Product & Solutions Marketing, Amdocs
As Amdocs Self-Optimizing Networks solution is vendor agnostic in terms of network equipment, it enables service providers to focus on maximizing network return on investment (ROI). In this deployment we are leveraging our Customer Experience Analytics so that Vodafone Hutchison Australia can target scarce network resources to key locations, as well mobility load balancing, automatic neighbor relations and coverage and capacity optimization to provide a superior network experience.
