The OpenDaylight Project, a community-led and industry-supported open source platform to advance Software-defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), Thursday announced that Intel, one of the project's founding members, is now a Platinum member. Intel joins existing OpenDaylight Platinum members, including Brocade, Cisco, Citrix, Dell, Ericsson, HP, IBM, Juniper, Microsoft and Red Hat.
Intel's SDN Systems Architecture Director, Uri Elzur will join OpenDaylight's board of directors and Rajeev Koodli, Architect at Intel, will join OpenDaylight's Technical Steering Committee. According to OpenDaylight, it has made significant progress in the last 18 months to advance the much needed collaborative community efforts for developing an open source SDN controller platform.
Neela Jacques, Executive Director, OpenDaylight
The year ahead will see increased adoption and deployment of OpenDaylight-based SDN controllers. Intel has been actively engaged in working with partners on a broad spectrum of technologies critical to the successful deployment of SDN and NFV and will imbue a new vibrancy in the OpenDaylight community.
Uri Elzur, SDN System Architecture Director at Intel
The SDN controller is a key component in Intel's Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) reference architecture. By playing a larger role in a community of like-minded industry leaders through OpenDaylight, we aim to advance the capabilities, deployment, automation and agility of SDI for the benefit of our customers.
