Swisscom announced that it has equipped its Swisscom Shop in Zurich's Füsslistrasse with advanced technology: by combining the four LTE 800, 1800, 2100 and 2600 frequency bands via carrier aggregation, which are also enhanced by 4×4 MiMo (multiple input, multiple output) and advanced 256-QAM modulation.
Swisscom said it achieved exceptionally high data transfer of around 800 Mbit/s when measured in the live network with a Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
The Operator plans to break the speed barrier of 1 Gbit/s in near future. The use of video content with a HD smartphone display in particular enhances the appeal of video enjoyment now and in the future. The jump in technology also permits new virtual reality, gaming and real time communication applications, added Swisscom.
Swisscom is working closely with partner Ericsson on the continuous development of its mobile network. Swisscom said it already offers 40% of the Swiss population speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s; it is the only mobile provider in Switzerland offering speeds up to 450 Mbit/s to 15% of the population (maximum values under optimum conditions).
