In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Kamal Mokrani, Global Vice President at Infinet Wireless on the company's plans and showcases for this year's event.

Tara: What do you think MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?

Kamal: The common trend we are seeing everywhere today is a significant increase in digital transformation, embraced not only by the large enterprises which are at the forefront of this dynamics, but also smaller ones who want to position themselves for future growth. The main objective of such technology adoption is the desire to improve productivity and customer satisfaction, whilst improving decision making in all parts of the organization. Selecting the right platform and ensuring that it remains future proofed has become a vital aspect of company management. MWC 2022 is going to be an excellent opportunity for companies of all sizes to learn about emerging technologies and implement those which meet their corporate strategies and ambitions.

Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?

Kamal: There is no doubt that most sectors of the global industry were affected in different ways, with sadly many companies simply going under. We are happy and proud to say that in our case, the pandemic has in fact had the opposite effect for Infinet Wireless. With the explosion of remote working, we worked overtime to meet the exponential demand for wireless connectivity from service providers of all types, and in all regions of the world. This has allowed us to secure new contracts and deliver thousands more networks to our customers, existing and new ones, despite the current global supply problems and delays.

Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?

Kamal: One of the hottest subjects in our industry everyone is talking about right now is undoubtedly the Smart City design and implementation. This topic has become even more relevant because of the growing need for faster and smarter data processing during the pandemic. Many service providers and WISP’s, our main customer targets, are becoming more and more active with such applications of technology to everyday needs, whether aimed at the general public or the public sector.

Like with everyone new, our biggest challenge today as a wireless vendor is to change society’s habits and behaviors, and allow our customers to design and manage services in new and different ways so that they can quickly exploit the potential that modern technologies offer and build future and successful cities.

Kamal has more than 40 years of senior level management experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors and has held numerous positions for many industry leaders including Control Data, Schlumberger, British Telecom, France Telecom and Marconi (optical and wireless divisions). He joined Infinet Wireless in 2008.
