LTE Broadcast

LTE Broadcast refers to the delivery of video and other rich content leveraging the combination of three standards, eMBMS, HEVC (H.265) and MPEG DASH. It enables service providers to use their LTE network to deliver broadcast services.

The LTE Broadcast technology makes a highly efficient use of wireless spectrum to provide the same content to a large number of people concurrently, covering the entire network. It differs from LTE Multicast in that LTE Multicast targets a defined group of recipients within a specific location while content delivered via LTE Broadcast is available to all subscribers enabled with the service.

LTE Broadcast is expected to boost Mobile Network Operator's mobile content business, enabling them to deliver live videos, news and TV content to subscribers. It also enables MNOs to deliver networkwide updates such as mobile app updates.
