Driving Automation and Resiliency for Next Gen Optical Networks

In the run-up to Asia Tech X Singapore event taking place from the 14th to 16th of July, The Fast Mode spoke to NTT Advanced Technology Corp (NTT AT) on the company's showcase at the event and some of their solution highlights in the optical transport space for both operator and data center networks.  

In addressing the management of optical networks post pandemic, Yuki Low, Deputy Senior Manager at NTT AT discussed how its ROME (Robotic Optical Management Engine) delivers remote management and automation of networks to increase reliability, minimize human error and enhance network security. In this interview, Yuki also examined the technologies needed to ensure network resiliency and sustainability.

Kanika Bhutani, Deputy Senior Manager, Global Pre-Sales at NTT AT meanwhile explored its Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) concept. The concept which is slated for implementation by 2030, was introduced to support the increasing traffic on fiber, driven partly by the growth in IoT. Kanika also discussed the transport network's readiness to take on traffic from 5G and the technologies that will be required to support this.
