iPass, Accuris Networks Team Up to Offer WiFi Solution to MNOs & MVNOs

iPass is teaming up with Accuris Networks to provide Wi-Fi offload and roaming services to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs).

iPass is a cloud-based service that provides our customers access to the global Wi-Fi, via its network of Wi-Fi hotspot. iPass claims that it has 57 million Wi-Fi hotspots in over 120 countries.

By using a combined portfolio of Wi-Fi roaming, Wi-Fi offload and intelligent network connection technologies and native mobile core network integration, the partnership will improve the mobile connectivity experience for one billion potential mobile subscribers, while assuring subscription identity and service-revenues for MNOs, said both companies in a statement..

Accuris Networks will integrate iPass' patented SmartConnect technology into its Wi-Fi eClient to enable advanced client connection analytics and access to iPass' global Wi-Fi footprint. This augments Accuris Networks' patented WISPr 1+ connection protocol which enables GSM-based authentication and secure Wi-Fi connectivity.

In addition, the Accuris Connect service speeds integration with mobile networks by supporting pre-paid service plans and existing billing systems.

Gary Griffiths, president and CEO of iPass
Not only will this partnership offer our connectivity services to a billion potential end users, but it will also enable MNOs and MVNOs to dramatically accelerate the introduction of cutting-edge Wi-Fi solutions to the market.

Jeff Brown, the president and CEO at Accuris Networks
Mobile operators increasingly see the value in Wi-Fi as a central pillar to their connectivity and mobile broadband strategy. Accuris Networks has proven capability in combining controlled Wi-Fi service to their core service portfolio.
