Magyar Telekom and Ericsson has demonstrated an improved 4G+ technology with download speeds of 1.2 Gbps at the recent Regional Digital Summit organized in Budapest.
The technology is able to achieve a multiple of the speeds available publicly today by aggregating several frequency ranges, using an improved aerial system and a higher order of modulation. It uses 3 components carrier aggregation, 4x4 multiple antennas and 256 QAM modulation, enabling download speeds of 1.2 Gbit/s to a single user.
The 4G+ technology is implemented is already available in the live network and a majority of the equipment used in the demonstration are identical to the latest equipment installed to the Operator's network.
Christopher Mattheisen, Chief Executive Officer of Magyar Telekom
While further increasing the speed of the 4G mobile internet provided to our clients, and we take 4G to the smallest villages, we demonstrated today a speed and a technology together with our partner that provides an answer to the network demands of the future, when billions of connected devices will communicate with each other, and the age of the Internet of Things (IoT) arrives.
Gábor Éry, President of Ericsson Hungary Ericsson
Following previous successful tests in the commercial network, today’s event is an important next step in the long-term cooperation between Magyar Telekom and Ericsson.
