Reliance Group on Tuesday said it has launched a new Internet of Things (IoT) business unit, UNLIMIT to serve enterprise customers in India.

Reliance Group has become the first telecommunications services provider in India to set up a dedicated and integrated IoT business unit that will be led by Juergen Hase as the chief executive. The company is among India's top private sector business houses serving over 250 million customers across telecommunications, power, financial services, infrastructure, media and entertainment, and healthcare sectors.

Last year, Reliance signed an exclusive partnership with Jasper, a global Internet-of-Things (IoT) platform leader which was acquired by Cisco later to enable enterprises throughout India to launch, manage and monetize Next-Generation IoT businesses.

This partnership pairs the capabilities of Reliance’s 11 data center facilities and its Global Cloud Exchange (Cloud X®) platform with Jasper’s global IoT services platform - Jasper Control Center -  to enable enterprises to capitalize on IoT services.

In addition to enabling business transformation for companies throughout India, the new IoT service launched by Reliance will also play a key role in making the Digital India project, a government program committed to building 100 Smart Cities to increase the quality of life for residents.

Juergen Hase, Chief Executive Officer of Unlimit
IoT is a critical enabler for India’s growth, and businesses throughout the country are already utilizing its huge potential to help deliver innovative new services to their customers, while reducing cost and increasing revenue. We are delighted to partner with Cisco Jasper, and this strategic partnership will strenghten the market position of UNLIMIT significantly.
