Etisalat will be launching eSIM commercially within the next six months, reports Gulfnews

The Operator has partnered with London-based eSim maker, QuarkSe and Croatian car manufacturer that develops and produces high-performance electric cars and drivetrain, Rimac to launch the first eSIM enabled electric car in the world.

This is will also be the first time a supercar has been eSIM-enabled too, claims Etisalat. It adopts the new eSIM Phase 2 GSMA standard. The supercar with the eSIM download and its activation process is being demonstrated at GITEX 2016 in Dubai from 16th-21st October.

QuarkSe said that eSIM will gradually replace the classic physical SIM card. It will enable a quick and easy activation process for a much wider array of devices than before – such as wearables, smart metering, smart city elements and cars as well as mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

Rashed Majed Al Abbar, Vice President Consumer Innovations of Etisalat
Etisalat is a market innovator and is pleased to work with partners such as RIMAC and QuarkSe to develop the new generation of connected cars. Etisalat is always in the forefront of innovation.
