Orange Slovensko, a leading telecommunication company and the largest mobile operator in Slovakia has announced plans to invest more than EUR35 million (USD39 million) to significantly increase FTTH footprint in the country.

It plans to triple the coverage within the next three years, from 19 cities at present to almost 60 by the end of 2018. The expansion will cover 41 new areas where households will be able to enjoy ultra broadband and digital television service via the FTTH network. In 2007, Orange was the first in Slovakia began to build FTTH-based ultra broadband network.

"Fiber Access has great potential not only at present but also in the distant future - both for its quality parameters, virtually unlimited capacity in terms of customers and is a technology that is an investment in real estate, " says Zuzana Orange Nemečková, Sales director, Orange Slovensko.

At the end of April 2016, Orange group reported 1.1 million FTTH connections out of a total of 5.5 million connectable homes.
