Dutch telecoms operator, KPN announced that it will expand trials of Vplus technology in few location in Rotterdam, Haarlem and Hillegom. Led by its wholesale division, the field trials which are scheduled to start in October 2016 will be used to test download speeds of 400Mbps over standard copper wires.

Nokia is one of the telecoms vendor that supports service providers with Vplus trials. Vplus fills the gap between VDSL2 vectoring and G.fast by promising double the speeds of VDSL2 - 200 Mbps+ up to 500 meters and 300 Mbps+ up to 250 meters. At loop lengths between 250 and 550 meters, Vplus can give better performance than both VDSL2 vectoring and G.fast, said Nokia.

Nokia states that VDSL2 vectoring is ideal for high densities of subscribers over a wide range of local loops up to 1000 meters in length, while G.fast caters to low densities on short loops of less than 300 meters.

Thanks to realize combination of fiber to the district cabinet and this kind of new technology in the copper network. With this technology we show that the copper network is future-proof.
