Working along with one of Indonesia’s leading mobile operator, Hutchison 3 Indonesia, Huawei has deployed its indoor small cell solution, LampSite technology at the Jakarta International Airport (Soekarno - Hatta Airport) to support the Operator in terms of increases in voice and data traffic.

The project witnessed indoor digitization with the transition of legacy DAS system to the new LampSite technology. With this launch, the Jakarta Airport becomes the first Airport in South Pacific to gain this technology, said Huawei.

Jakarta International Airport is one of South Pacific's busiest airports, with average people traffic close to 60 million per year. Being a major hub for international travelers, good internet experience not only represents a comprehensive service level of the airport, but also showcases the level of infrastructure development in Indonesia. 

Huawei claims that the LampSite solution based on Ethernet cable with end-to-end digital architecture has significantly reduced the cost of infrastructure build, shortened the build cycle to 1/3 of the traditional project and increased the system capacity 3~4 times as compared with traditional solutions.

Huawei added that since the deployment of LampSite at the Jakarta Airport the user experience has improved dramatically, the average download speed of the wireless network increased by more than 16 times. After two months, the statistics show that Internet users increase in traffic of near to 300%, while there are more users who abandon 2G services and use 3G/4G network.
