Tele2 has selected Nokia's Cloud Packet Core solution to transform its core network to meet the growing customer demand for high performance mobile broadband services. Once deployed, the new generation mobile network will give Tele2 the flexibility, scale and performance necessary to support LTE consumer services on a larger scale, and further develop the foundation for 5G.

Tele2 is a European operator providing mobile services, fixed broadband and telephony, data network services, content services and global M2M/IoT solutions with approximately 16 million subscribers in Europe and Central Asia. Nokia's solution will be deployed across the operator's global network first in Croatia and followed by Sweden, the Baltic states, Austria, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan.

The solution consists of the Cloud Mobility Manager and Cloud Mobile Gateway running on an open OpenStack(TM) Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) infrastructure and bundled with Nokia's professional services and expertise.

Basil Alwan, president of IP/Optical Networks at Nokia
