Magyar Telekom, Hungary’s leading telecommunications group announced that the company is set to implement significant enhancements to its fixed network in numerous districts of the capital city, Budapest as part of its nationwide fixed line network modernization program.

Last year, Magyar Telekom started the fixed broadband upgrade to provide broadband service with at least 30 Mbps in speeds. This year the company plans to cover another 500 thousand households with internal funding, of which by the end of June more than 400 thousand were covered. Therefore, the high speed broadband internet is currently available in altogether more than 2.5 million households on its network.

With the enhancements, customers can enjoy higher transmission speeds provided by faster internet speeds and a wider TV channel allocation for the Operator's IPTV service.

In addition, a range of new services will also become available to Magyar Telecom's broadband subscribers, including numerous existing features of interactive TV made available in the upgraded areas. These include the pause and rewind functions of watching TV, programmable recording of programs with a single touch button, digital electronic program guide and versatile online applications.
