Canadian telecoms operator, Eastlink deployed Sandvine’s Policy Charging and Rules Function (PCRF) to help enable and assure quality of its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) deployment.

A former cable only operator, Eastlink has more than 1,700 employees providing a range of communications, entertainment, television and advertising services to residential, business and public sector customers in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia and Bermuda.

Sandvine said that its PCRF solution called the Service Delivery Engine, enables a number of VoLTE specific use cases, including guaranteed quality of service (QoS) for voice calls. Additionally, when deployed as part of a complete Sandvine network policy control solution, the additional network intelligence gained enables Sandvine’s PCRF to offer a number of additional use cases for operators including measurement of Quality of Experience (QoE) for both VoLTE and over-the-top (OTT) services.

Matthew MacLellan, President of Eastlink Wireless
As part of Eastlink's ongoing commitment to deliver the best possible wireless experience, our VoLTE deployment provides our customers with exceptional call quality and significantly faster call connection times. Sandvine’s PCRF will play a key role in ensuring our customers enjoy a superior experience when making VoLTE calls.
