Telenor Pakistan becomes the second operator to secure 4G licence in the country. The operator won the 4G licence award in the 850 MHz band for US$395 million in the latest auction by the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA). The award will allow the operator to quickly expand its mobile internet services in the country.

"We will go for 4G as soon as it would be possible," the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor Pakistan, Irfan Wahab Khan said. He added, "I see a lot of opportunities and humongous potential available in the data segment that Telenor is geared up to tap in."

In 2014, Pakistan auctioned its first 4G broadband licence to China’s Zong for $210 million.
