Vasona Networks, a provider of platforms for mobile network capacity, resource management and edge intelligence, Wednesday announced a full commercial deployment with Telefónica UK to improve mobile data performance in London.

The deal expands an initial successful pilot deployment of the Vasona SmartAIR® 1000 edge application controller and SmartVISION™ analysis suite to cover O2 customers on the company's 3G and 4G networks in Greater London, said Vasona.

Vasona Networks provides software solutions on standards-based, programmable platforms with strategic positioning at the mobile network edge. The SmartAIR solution leverages dynamic rate control with feedback (DRCF) traffic management technology, detecting congestion at the cell level and taking immediate action to minimize latency and avoid radio access network (RAN) packet loss.

This improves the quality of user experiences on the existing network and also improves performance of new RAN investments. The SmartVISION software suite provides a dashboard, metadata, and regular reports that show real-time and historical QoE performance across individual cells, added Vasona Networks.

Brendan O'Reilly, Telefónica O2 CTO
At every stage of our work with Vasona Networks, the company demonstrates the ability to drive network performance improvements during peak times of the day so that our customers get a consistent experience when using their mobile device.

Biren Sood, CEO, Vasona
Our growing collaboration with Telefónica UK demonstrates the flexible capabilities of Vasona edge platforms to scale in response to evolving operator needs.
