Movistar Chile, the largest mobile operator in the country, this week announced that it will start using drones as a monitoring tool for its extensive fiber optic network, measuring over 1,850 kilometers across the North Zone. The operator aims to achieve a 300% improvement in productivity, preventing incidents that cause network failures and react more quickly to problems such as cuts links, falls of services and emergencies caused by floods, storms, earthquakes, etc.
The initiative which will be implemented from May will see a new model of network monitoring that is key to maintaining connectivity users of fixed telephony, mobile, broadband and television. Along with this, drones will also be used for managing mobile antennas in the future, said Movistar in a statement.

This is a real example of how technology is incorporated into the business and helps efficiency, saves costs, increases job security and delivers a higher quality service to the end customer.
