Aria Networks, Thursday announced that it has been awarded a new Artificial Intelligence(AI) patent from the United States Patent & Trademark Office on network capacity management.

According to Aria Networks, the new AI patent introduces a capacity computation engine driven by interfaces with a network optimization evolution engine to determine optimum paths for traffic in a multi-layer network. The patent enables network service providers to combine computing power, memory, storage and services on demand to create the most efficient network orchestration against multiple (and often conflicting) criteria such as quality of service and cost.

A major European telecommunications service provider is already implementing this patented functionality and the project is expected to go live next month, said the company.

Jay Perrett, Chief Technology Officer, Aria Networks
Automating network operations, such as capacity optimisation, is essential for operators.
