Parallel Wireless, AT&T and VeloCloud Take Home the IOPN Award

The Intelligent Open Networking (IOPN) Awards 2016 which took place last night at the MWC saw Parallel Wireless, AT&T and VeloCloud emerging as winners for excellence in combining intelligence with open networking. The IOPN Awards was organized by the Network Intelligence Alliance (NI Alliance). 

The Award recognizes and rewards service providers and technology vendors that successfully combine intelligence with open networking in their Proof of Concepts, services and solutions. Winners of the IOPN Awards 2016 were selected by a jury of independent analysts comprising Gabriel Brown, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading; Joe Hoffman, Vice President, Strategic Technology, ABI Research and Shira Levine, Research Director, IHS.

The award categories are as the following: 

i. Best Innovation combining intelligence with open networking: Parallel Wireless' HetNet Gateway (HNG)

ii. Best Proof of Concept combining intelligence with open networking: AT&T's Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter (CORD)

iii. Best Service or Solution combining intelligence with open networking: VeloCloud's Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)

While the industry is spending considerable time and resources on openness and virtualization of networks, the time has come to add crucial capabilities such as intelligence to unleash the full potential of open networking. This year’s award applications show that all the leading players are increasingly recognizing the crucial combination of openness and intelligence to make tomorrow’s networks successful.
