Tecnotree has inluded Ulticom's Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) in their solution to optimize Diameter-based charging traffic for its Agility™ Convergent Charging System. The Ulticom DSC will be used primarily for traffic routing and load balancing, via intelligent distribution for Diameter-based transactions across multiple pools of servers performing Online Charging Services (OCS). Ulticom’s Service-Oriented Routing™ technology which goes beyond the typical primary-backup reliability strategy commonly used with full mesh Diameter signaling, manages a group of servers in a single Logical Service transparently. The DSC invisibly optimizes the user experience by managing load across server pools and dynamically compensating for congestion or server failure when necessary.

Ulticom says that the DSC is suitable for deployment as a Centralized Router, a Diameter Load Balancer, a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), or a Diameter Edge Agent (DEA).  DEA functionality supports LTE Roaming while DRA functionality provides advanced policy management signaling routing (IP-CAN Binding).  The Ulticom Diameter Product Family also provides the ability to interwork between Diameter and SS7 networks – enabling 2G-3G-4G integration.

Timo Ahomäki, Chief Technology Officer, Tecnotree“Ulticom’s Diameter Signaling Controller is the next logical step in the evolution of Diameter-based charging, and an important part of our Diameter signaling strategy going forward,” said Timo Ahomäki, CTO, Tecnotree. “Ulticom’s solution provides us with the versatility to integrate the DSC into our service offering, realizing cost savings and decreased time to market.”

“Ulticom’s DSC provides a powerful, cost effective software solution concentrating Tecnotree’s efforts on its core application value add instead of very specialized Diameter traffic routing and load balancing,” said Bruce Swail, CEO of Ulticom. Read More 'Ulticom Wins Major Diameter Signaling Controller Contract'
