Viavi Solutions has expanded its EtherASSURE service assurance portfolio with a virtualized Ethernet test probe to support Network Function Virtualization(NFV) environments.

The company claims that national carriers in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia have been conducting, or plan to conduct trials of Viavi's virtual Ethernet test probe.

According to Viavi, the EtherASSURE virtualized Ethernet test-head/probe delivers test, troubleshooting and performance monitoring and is based on the industry-leading capabilities of the purpose-built hardware version of the Viavi QT600-10. This allows customers to more simply deploy services on industry-standard x86 server platforms. The virtualized probe is part of Viavi's broader portfolio for real-time end-to-end network visibility and intelligence enabling assurance in both physical and virtual environments.
