Comcast, the largest cable company in America, is reported saying that it will be entering the mobile broadband market with a bid on the 600MHz wireless auction by the Federal Communications Commission. The move will complement Comcast's deployment of a public Wi-Fi network using the unlicensed spectrum within its local markets and also its impending MVNO launch. Last year, the leading cable operator signed a deal with Verizon, enabling the cable operator to become an MVNO to offer wireless services.

Comcast's CFO, Mike Cavanagh has confirmed that it will be bidding in the country's forthcoming radio spectrum auction which is set for March 29. He however cautioned that they will only bid "if we think the price is right after we do our evaluation of what's available."
