Japan’s largest mobile operator, NTT DOCOMO has selected Alcatel-Lucent's 7950 Extensible Routing System(XRS) to enable it to manage the rapidly rising data demand on its LTE network. Alcatel-Lucent’s 7950 XRS will be deployed in every major region in the country.

According to Alcatel-Lucent, the IP router platform that hosts a suite of core and edge routing capabilities delivers scale, efficiency and versatility. The 7950 XRS which is based on Alcatel-Lucent’s Service Router Operating System (SROS) will also support the move to network virtualization and enables network automatization and improvement of cost efficiencies, said Alcatel-Lucent.
