AT&T announced that it has signed more than 300 Internet of Things(IoT) deals this year, across the U.S. and abroad, connecting devices across the automotive, shipping, industrial, health care, home security and smart cities sectors. The second largest mobile operator in the US notes that it has about 25 million connected devices on its network, a year-over-year increase of more than 25 percent when compared to the third quarter last year. 

In this third quarter, the operator said that it added a record of more than 1.6 million connected devices and of that number, 1 million are connected cars. In total, a number of 5.8 million connected cars were registered as of the 3rd quarter, and AT&T expects to connect more than 50% of all new connected U.S. passenger vehicles by year-end. Among the automakers it is currently working with include leading brands such as Subaru, Audi and Jaguar.

According to AT&T, it has also launched more than 14 new wearable devices this year. Many of those help customers to track their everyday activities and take control of their health and wellness.

In addition to these, AT&T is also working on a highly Secure Global SIM, a system that allows AT&T to provide wireless connections virtually anywhere in the world.
