Ofcom Wi-Fi Checker to Help Users to Improve In-Home WiFi Experience

data-increase-v3

UK's telecoms regulator, Ofcom has launched a mobile app that will help to check Wi-Fi connection for problems. The Ofcom Wi-Fi Checker, which is available for Android and iOS devices, allows consumers and businesses to discover the quality of their wireless internet signal wherever they live or work - as well as offering practical steps to help people get the best from their connection. It is designed to give simple steps to improve in-home WiFi coverage, for example, routers should ideally be kept in a central position within the home, and placed on a table or shelf rather than on the floor.

The app that was developed in collaboration with SamKnows is being released following Ofcom's research which showed that broadband in nearly six million homes and offices across the UK may not be working at its highest capability.

Three months ago, the regulatory body unveiled the Mobile Coverage Checker tool that provides a single-stop for consumers and businesses across the UK to discover the quality of the mobile coverage in areas where they live and work.
