Nokia Networks and China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI) have announced a strategic cooperation to work together on the research, standardization and industrialization of key 5G features such as multi-connectivity and high-speed seamless mobility. Nokia Networks is the first non-Chinese vendor to sign a 5G-related MoU with CMRI.
Nokia Networks is already working closely with China Mobile on increasing bandwidth on its 4G LTE networks leveraging the 4G LTE carrier agregation technology.
Both companies demonstrated 220 Mbps peak data transmission rates based on 3.5 GHz interband TD-LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation at the recent Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015. In another demonstration, Nokia Networks, China Mobile and Ooredoo achieved 4.1 Gbps speed with TDD-FDD carrier aggregation.
Huang Yuhong, Vice President of China Mobile Research Institute
5G will have a far-reaching impact on the telecommunications industry as well as various other industries, societies, families and individuals.
Vicki Zhang, Head of Technology, Greater China, Nokia Networks
I am happy to see that Nokia Networks is the first non-Chinese vendor to sign a 5G strategic cooperation agreement with China Mobile Research Institute.
