Swisscom acquires a share capital in SoftAtHome, Orange-led software company that delivers connectivity, as well as Pay TV and digital services for Operator devices in the home. Etisalat, a UAE-based operator also has shares in the company.
Swisscom's move is part of 'Club of Operators' strategic initiative which aims to accelerate the development of digital home solutions by sharing best practices with other market players and promote collaboration to ensure wide-spread deployment of the best connected-home services through SoftAtHome’s software platform.
According to a statement by Orange, SoftAtHome's solutions are already deployed in over 25 million homes in more than 15 countries in multiple broadband and broadcast systems for major operators such as Orange, Etisalat, Swisscom and Boxer. Through its software products, SoftAtHome empowers operators by providing outstanding services such as Ultra High Definition TV, the transition to the Internet of Things and many of the most advanced services linked to enriched connectivity and security.
