The largest mobile operator in the US, Verizon has introduced 'Private Network Traffic Management', a subscription-based Quality-of-Service(QoS) offering exclusive for Verizon Private Network customers. The solution will give business and government customers the ability to manage mobile applications for better performance, enable prioritization among applications and increase productivity, said the Operator.
Shawn Hakl, vice president of enterprise networking and innovation with Verizon Enterprise Solutions, said that "The surge in enterprise mobility and IoT adoption by organizations has created a demand for powerful networking solutions that are the growth engine for successful initiatives."
According to Verizon, the new traffic management solution can be added to select Verizon Private Network 4G LTE devices for a monthly fee per user, based on the service level option selected. The ‘Mission Critical’ service level for example, manages applications such as video and voice-over-IP and is offered via Premium & Enhanced as well as Public Safety service classes. The Premium & Enhanced class allows customers to allocate portions of their 4G LTE connection for sending mission critical applications while the Public Safety class caters for applications relating to Emergency Services or other first responders, receiving the highest transmission priority to enable critical communications to reach their destination quickly.
