Telenor, Tuesday announced that it has completed an extensive network overhaul in Bulgaria earlier this year enabling it to provide high data speeds of up to 42 Mbps to more than 300 locations in the country. Partnering Huawei, Telenor began the full 2G and 3G swap in March 2014 and upgraded the company’s access and backbone transport network, as well as its core network and related services. The full swap was successfully completed in February this year, ahead of schedule, said the company.

The Operator also announed its readiness for 4G. Bulgarian regulator is expected to complete the process for awarding additional spectrum in the 1800 MHz band that will enable the launch of 4G services in the country.

Stein-Erik Vellan, CEO
Our investment in the robust 4G-ready network confirms our commitment to offer the best mobile internet in Bulgaria now and in future. The swap is now completed and we look forward to offer advanced telecommunication services to our customers.

Chief Technology Officer Vladimir Radojicic
In June this year we publicly announced that Telenor offers the newest network to its customers. All base stations support LTE and once regulation is in place, it is only a matter of weeks to make the necessary adjustments and launch services on 4G.
