Ooredoo Tunisia recently announced that it has started its pilot testing of 4G LTE service in the country by partnering with Nokia. Its initial 4G test results have shown a download speed equal of 69 Mb/s, but the operator targets to achieve 100Mbps for its launch.

Ooredoo said that it plans to deploy pilot networks in two major cities in Tunisia with the commercial nation-wide network launch expected to take place early next year.

The company has a consolidated global customer base of more than 114 million people as of 30 June 2015. Formerly known as Tunisiana, the operator was rebranded to Ooredoo in April last year.

Ooredoo is the first mobile operator to test 4G mobile technology in Tunisia, and this will ultimately allow Tunisians to enjoy a high-speed mobile connection. Ooredoo has once again achieved a new record which confirms its position as leader on the Tunisian telecommunications market
