Ericsson has been selected as part of China Mobile’s radio acces network (RAN) for the Phase-3 of its 4G network project, covering deployment of TD-LTE networks in 14 provinces and the Chongqing municipality. This covers around 60 percent of China’s population and has nearly 100 million 4G subscribers. Ericsson has been one of the major suppliers to China Mobile in its 4G LTE network deployment.

China Mobile has built 900,000 4G LTE base stations, providing 4G services to nearly 200 million subscribers across China.

Ericsson claims that 40 percent of the world's mobile traffic is carried over Ericsson networks and it holds the number one spot in LTE market share among the world’s top 100 cities.

Chris Houghton, President of Ericsson North East Asia
We are honored to be able to continue our contribution to China Mobile’s ongoing efforts to build the largest 4G network in the world. Ericsson is committed to spearheading the continuous evolution of the Networked Society. We are willing to join hands with China Mobile to promote a smooth upgrade of 4G, TDD technology in particular, to 5G.
