After introducing VoLTE and WiFi calling service, T-Mobile becomes the first US operator to introduce Advanced Messaging service that is based on the Rich Communications Services (RCS) standard.

The Operator is offering the service on the new Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, the first device to come with built-in T-Mobile Advanced Messaging. T-Mobile promises the service to next be available on the Galaxy S5 and S6 through simple software updates.

T-Mobile's new Advanced Messaging service comes with a range of new messaging enhancements that work across all devices, makers and operating systems. It promises features that match that of those offered by Over-the-Top (OTT) services, including rich 1-on-1 and group messaging, near real-time chat and sharing of high-res photos and videos up to 10 MB, as in regular text messaging. It also allows a user to see what others are typing, know when a message is delivered and even, read.

  • In addition, the Advanced Messaging works natively without the need to install a third party app. T-Mobile added that Advanced Messaging is just one of many new features that can be launched based on RCS.
