EXFO, a company that designs and manufactures test and service assurance instruments for fixed and mobile telecom networks this week announced that the Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN), located in Ottawa Canada has selected EXFO Xtract Open Analytics Platform to provide near real-time visualization of the health and performance for CENGN’s advanced lab and the center's network.

EXFO Xtract uses SNMP polling, SNMP traps, MIB queries and other methods of inbound data-gathering in order to present users with real time views of metrics, KPIs and alarms in live networks. EXFO joined CENGN as a Tier 1 founding member in October of 2014 as part of its SDN/NFV strategy.

Ritch Dusome, CEO of CENGN
Given the highly dynamic nature of CENGN’s lab and network, due to the various projects being simultaneously performed by our fast-growing list of members, partners and SME clients, it is vital to have visibility into the lab and network performance at all times. From the onset, our lab ‎was designed to be a multi-tenant platform with numerous PoCs as well as testing happening at the same time. It is critical to continually monitor the lab and network, and EXFO Xtract will let us know immediately if we encounter any issues.

Claudio Mazzuca, VP of Transport and Service Assurance for EXFO
EXFO Xtract is building momentum in Canada; it has already been installed at two of Canada’s largest telecom carriers and now at CENGN. Contract wins and installations in the United States are growing rapidly and we are expecting to expand sales of this solution into Tier 1 & 2 mobile and fixed networks in Europe and Asia-Pacific through the latter half of 2015.
