Telia Sweden has partnered with Aptilo Networks for pop-up Wi-Fi hotspots in and around the city of Visby for the 30,000 participants forecast to attend this year's Almedalen week, Sweden’s most important political forum taking place from the June 28 toJuly 5. The free Wi-Fi service to all visitors is enabled by Aptilo Service Management Platform (SMP). The platform uses SIM Authentication that enables seamless login to the Telia WIFI service for Telia subscribers who will be welcomed with a special Almedalen-themed SMS. Other users simply click on the Almedalen-branded portal to connect to the Telia WIFI service.
The Almedalen week is an event that started 40 years back and has since mushroomed in size with more than 20,000 people attending each summer, from politicians to lobbyists, journalists and campaigners. There are around 3000 events on the official programme this year, from speeches by global international guests including writer Naomi Klein, to Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and leading business figures such as Tina Fordham, Chief Global Political Analyst at Citibank.
