South Korea's second largest Operator, KT, Monday announced that it will be commercializing the world’s fastest mobile network, known as GiGA LTE, combining the current Long Term Evolution networks with Wi-Fi connections. The new network service is said to provide a maximum download speed of 1.17 Gbps, a 15 times faster connection speed compared to the existing LTE network. KT said that the GiGA LTE Network currently boasts 200,000 LTE base stations and 140,000 WiFi hotspots throughout the country.
KT also said that it has been working together with Samsung over the last nine months to develop the GiGA LTE technology. To enable customers to enjoy the GiGA LTE service, Samsung will be releasing a special firmware update for its devices, namely Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
