Taqua, a leading supplier of mobile and fixed communications solutions, Tuesday announced that C Spire has selected Taqua’s Virtual Mobile Core (VMC) as its mobile VoIP core for the deployment of small cells. C Spire provides a suite of wireless communications, high-speed Internet access and a range of other telecommunications products and services to consumers and businesses across Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida.
According to Taqua, the Virtual Mobile Core (VMC) solution is a common 4G mobile core enabling rapid deployment of next-generation mobile voice and messaging services. The VMC is a carrier-grade software product that converges a number of 3GPP standard functions including a Telephony Application Server (TAS), IP Short Message Gateway (IP-SM-GW), Service Consistency and Continuity Application Server (SCC-AS), and Media Resource Function (MRF). The VMC can be deployed in pre-IMS or IMS networks as well as deployed optionally as a standard MSC/VLR in existing mobile networks, said the company.
