The leading big data analytics firm, Pivotal and Mirantis, a leader in Openstack distribution, Monday announced a partnership aimed at integrating and delivering the Cloud Foundry-based platform-as-a-service on OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure. Pivotal's Cloud Foundry on Mirantis OpenStack distribution enables customers to install Pivotal Cloud Foundry onto Mirantis OpenStack. The partnership will also see Mirantis reselling Pivotal Cloud Foundry to customers.
Pivotal Cloud Foundry is a cloud-native application platform that provides a consistent environment across DevOps scenarios, and enables role-based, self-service application deployment and service lifecycle management. Leveraging OpenStack infrastructure services, Pivotal said that its Cloud Foundry transforms the data center into a self-healing, auto-scaling, application platform. Earlier this year, Mirantis joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation to shepherd OpenStack integration with Cloud Foundry.
Both companies intend to extend their partnership in future by adding a full Pivotal Cloud Foundry installation to the OpenStack Murano application catalog, allowing IT organizations to deploy a complete foundation of Pivotal Cloud Foundry on OpenStack at the click of a button, including installing stateful services and expose them to running instances of Pivotal Cloud Foundry, and deploy other applications from the Murano application catalog directly onto instances of Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
