INDATEL Selects Cyan Packet Optical Transport Platform for 100G Upgrade

INDATEL Selects Cyan Packet Optical Transport Platform for 100G Upgrade

INDATEL, a consortium of state and regional fiber networks that provides transport connectivity throughout rural and metro America, has selected Cyan’s Z-Series packet-optical transport platform (P-OTP) and Blue Planet SDN software for its first-ever 100G deployment. The upgrade to 100G connectivity improves aggregation and scale for INDATEL carrier members to enable more efficient and cost-effective service delivery.

Cyan, a leading provider of SDN, NFV, and packet-optical solutions for network operators, said that its Z-Series P-OTP family, coupled with the Blue Planet SDN platform for multi-layer network management and A-to-Z service provisioning, is the leading solution for network operators upgrading and evolving their metro and regional networks to 100G. Cyan claims that the Z-Series sets the new industry benchmark for 100G packet-optical convergence, density and flexibility, providing a carrier-grade solution that integrates 100GbE packet switching and transport, 100G coherent OTN transponding and muxponding, and 96-channel, multi-degree ROADM capable of transporting up to 10 Tbps on a single fiber.

Max Huffman, COO, INDATEL
Our members operate high-capacity networks that require reliable and high-bandwidth transport connectivity. Cyan’s scalable 100G solution, including the Z-Series and the Blue Planet SDN platform, allow us to aggregate their traffic more quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively for network applications. The increased transport capacity enables us to better deliver services across the Rural Ethernet eXchange (REX) and supports our goal to provide a seamless network throughout rural and metro communities across America.

Mike Hatfield, President, Cyan
As a charter member of INDATEL’s supplier affiliate program, as well as a solution supplier to many of the individual carrier members, we are proud to have been selected for INDATEL’s first-ever 100G deployment. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership and supporting INDATEL’s goal to deliver much-needed connectivity to rural and metro communities across the country.
