MegaFon, Russia's second-largest wireless carrier has signed a 7-year agreement with Nokia Networks to upgrade MegaFon’s 4G network to 4G+ using its single radio access network technology (Single RAN). MegaFon’s subscribers in Moscow, Central and Caucasus regions are expected to be the first to evaluate the quality of the network.

Due to efficient use of resources and low latency of 4G+ networks, MegaFon’s subscribers are expected to be able to download files of any volume faster and be able to catch up on rich content such as HD videos via their mobile devices.

Evgeny Chermashentsev, Director for Infrastructure, MegaFon
Cooperation with Nokia Networks in the construction and upgrading of our 4G+ network confirms MegaFon’s intention to provide its subscribers with the best service and fastest mobile internet. We are confident that Nokia Networks’ experience will help us make our 4G+ network faster, safer and better.

Kristina Tikhonova, Head of East Region, Nokia Networks
We are very pleased to continue our cooperation with MegaFon and will do our best to help the mobile operator translate their ideas into reality. Following the introduction of the latest technologies and equipment, MegaFon subscribers will be able to enjoy next generation mobile broadband connection.
