Tekelec was named the top independent policy vendor for 2012, recording a growth of more than 50 percent in its PCRF business, according to Exact Ventures, a market research company. Their research showed a 40 percent growth in the PCRF market from the year 2011 to 2012 and an expected growth of 40 percent for the year 2013.  Tekelec's client portfolio expanded with more than a dozen secured deals in 2012 and includes KT and Jasper Wireless as its policy management customers.

Tekelec said that its policy solutions now serve more than 60 service providers, including more than 50 Tier 1 providers, in 35 countries. Seven customers have purchased Tekelec’s Policy Server to support LTE deployments.

"Customers are using Tekelec’s Policy Server to gain scale, manage mobile data growth, and rapidly deliver innovative digital lifestyle services,” said Houck Reed, vice president of product management and marketing at Tekelec. "The Policy Server will gain more importance as service providers evolve to ThinkingNetworks™ that are software-defined, programmable, and virtualized to provide superior network performance and customer quality of experience.” - Houck Reed, VP product management and marketing at Tekelec.

"Policy Servers are critical for operators to quickly create and deploy revenue-generating and targeted services, such as data share plans, usage tiers, and zero-rated applications,” said Greg Collins, founder and principal analyst of Exact Ventures. "Tekelec’s strong policy revenue and Tier 1 customer growth are further validation of the company’s strong presence with global operators.”
